We figured out the best time to leave Tadoussac to reach Cap-à-l'Aigle in the early evening is 1 hour to 1 hour 30 minutes after low tide at Pointe-au-PèreThe scheduled departure time is noon.
It's a whole different bay that comes to our attention this morning. The beach has grown by half as a result of the large full moon tides.
Bellum, we prepare here for the homecoming. Danièle is concerned, now that we will be fighting the currents. She is always concerned.
We depart at 11h50. Boats loaded with curious tourists come out of the mouth of the Saguenay welcoming our passage.
Visibility is somewhat reduced today, a thin white smoke was deposited at the foot of mountains hiding the bottom of the hill. Sitting at the entrance of the descent, sheltered from the cold and wind, I scan the surface of the water. Not so easy to distinguish the whales from the wave crests. But many will cross our path. We know.
15h05 We are now moving forward at a speed of 6.2 knots in the rain.
16h00. Danièle is warm inside as I steer Bellum in the drizzle. The fog thickens as we approach Saint-Simeon. Danièle was not been aware of the thickening fog. Every two minutes I activate the foghorn to signal our presence. A cottony blanket envelops us to almost zero visibility!
But it clears as we approach the harbour of Cap à l'Aigle.
17h30 We are tied up and safe.
Danièle treated me to a very memorable evening with good food Resto Refuge to listen to Gilles musician strumming his guitar and interpret a varied repertoire from the 60s to today.
The sunset from the balcony overlooking the harbour was absolutely gorgeous - with a rainbow.
We had a wonderful supper at the Bistro le Refuge at the marina. A guitarist plays old classic rock and roll and other music. We stayed around after supper enjoying the venue. The waitress starts singing with the guitarist.
There was a report that two people were out on the river hanging on to a buoy and the waiters were helping search and rescue, but soon it was determined the reports were wrong.
