Sunday July 17, 2016 Ile aux Coudres to Tadoussac

7h30 sounds the alarm time this morning.  It will be pancakes with strawberries and maple syrup. A real treat!  We left around 9:30 am with almost zero current.

The skies were clear and there was a very interesting phenomenon – a rainbow around the sun.  Great for pictures.

10h50 the current carries us up to 10.5 knots to slowly stabilize our pace around 6.2 knots, engine speed.

We pass Port-au-Persil around 14h00 and St-Siméon around 15h45.  The sea is a mirror.

We were motoring along looking out for our first whale.  Daniele caught the first one of many more to be spotted on our trip.

The approach to Tadoussac was miserable. We were a little cold.  It was windy.  4 knots of current challenged us for almost 3 hours.  We were making headway at 2-3 nm per hour SOG. We pretty much gunned the 3 cylinder Yanmar.  White smoke was coming out the exhaust.

The boat was clearly salty, we could feel it on her deck and our clothes and skin.

We decided to try an anchorage at Anse Barque, a little cove past Tadoussac.  It looked small on the chart but nice and protected. There were good reviews on Active Captain, but it was small. Just big enough to let us turn around for depth soundings and get back out.  Patrick was watching us on Marine Traffic in amusement.

We came back to Tadoussac Marina.  They offered all kinds of coupons for meals, etc., but none of which we ended up using.
