July 12, 2016 to Trois Riviere

We woke up early at 5:30 to birds in the light of day.

We had a hearty breakfast: scrambled eggs, bacon, and toast ... and prepared green tea in Contigo Autoseal thermos for the road or seaway.

We hauled anchor was up at 7h40.  Following a small channel in broad daylight, we hit a rock shoal - distracted by putting on my sunscreen. I always suspected sunscreen was good for your health.

It is already very hot early in the morning so we had all the hatches opened, soon a large fast moving ship passed us creating a wake that swamped the fore-deck, drenching the V-berth. Sheets and comforters, pillows, cushions were soaked. Everything dried before noon on the boat deck under the blazing sun.  We closed the hatches the rest of the trip, but naturally, we never got swamped again during the trip.

It was hot and we routinely doused ourselves with buckets of cool lake water.

We motored through Lac St-Pierre although I wished we had put up the sail.  In the end, we arrived at Trois Rivières about 4PM.  I would probably be fine to put up the sail to transit Lac St. Pierre.

We anchored in Trois-Rivières in the mouth of the St-Maurice River, the wind is warm. There was a mini drizzle. The water is good, we hear the bells ringing the Angelus evening and relax. Yes, life is beautiful!

Several boats are anchored including a beautiful wooden sailboat.

The current was strong, maybe 2 knots, causing the anchor rode to come sideways to the hull, and vibrating in the current.  Eventually, we get used to this vibration of the anchor rode.

We made supper at 19:00.  Supper consisted of peppers, potatoes and delicious salmon on the BBQ.

Looking around us, we realize that we do not are pointing in the same direction as the other boats, the anchor rode had wrapped around the keel. Once I figured out the geometry, I maneuver Bellum around and everything was in order. We went to sleep at 21:30, feeling tired and accomplished.
