Today started with a peaceful awakening in scorching heat. The weather is heavy.
We departed on foot at noon to visit the Plains of Abraham, a good hike. We expect we went to downtown. Upon exiting the club we met Peter and Nicole the owners of the famous sailboat. very nice people, it's been 40 years that Peter has this boat and it sails on the river. What a real sailor! And the boat is for sale.
Within half an hour we went hit with a little rain. Then it intensifies. It's hot and sticky so the rain was welcomed. Then the rain intensifies and the trees were no longer sufficient shelter. But it calms a little to let us return to the boat for a nap.
Around 17:00 we left again for the city center, taking the rue Champlain this time. There were lots of people were converges on the plains. We took a grand wooden staircase of 400 steps to get up to the plains. It turns out to be the summer festival in Quebec City. The old city was not as crowded.
We walked around the upper city watching some street artists show their stuff. As we were descending the city, we found a cozy Bistro Chez Termporel at the corner of Couillard and Ferland. We had Croque Monsieur with goat cheese and duck confit, really delicious and some beer by a very friendly helpful waitress.
We visit the Basin St Louise and its lock and then returned on foot to QYC by Champlain Street. 25,000 steps and 55 stories were recorded on the Fitbit. Daniele’s feet were hurting badly.
We arrived at 23:00, the club gates were closed. Andre had told Daniele that he would be close at midnight. Allan slips under the barrier and activates the opening mechanism. We are saved; we will not sleep in the street tonight.
